Beautiful Smiles with Teeth Whitening

Many people today are not smiling as big as once did. A matter of fact, many cover their mouths even when they laugh. The main reason this is occurring is due to the stains on their teeth. All kinds of things can stain the teeth and as the stains become more apparent, a person's self-confidence begins to slide down the scale as well. Instead of sticking out our hands, smiling, and greeting with confidence, people are barely smiling, looking away while talking, or hardly opening their mouths to talk afraid of what others will think about their discolored teeth.

Today, you can eliminate many of the stains on the surface of your teeth with a large variety of teeth whitening or teeth bleaching products and processes. There are all kinds of things that can discolor our teeth including coffee, tea, red wine, berries, smoking, and more. Of course, age plays a huge part in the color of our teeth. Even if you quit eating all the foods and drinks that can stain your teeth and do not have any bad habits that can stain your teeth, they will with age begin to grow dimmer. The enamel that covers our teeth begins to wear away, which is one main reason of discoloration.

One way to obtain whiter teeth is by visiting your dentist. He can perform a teeth-whitening process using a tray. He will first, get an impression of your teeth, make a custom tray, place a protective gel on your gums and soft tissue around your teeth, and then fill the tray with a peroxide gel and place on your teeth. You may have to visit your dentist more than once in order to receive the whiteness you desire.

On the other hand, you can also purchase teeth whitening products to use at home. A tray based teeth whitening product similar to the one the dentist uses is available but not in the same strength. Along with this teeth whitening product you can also find strips and gels which will also whitening your teeth to some degree but more than likely not as white as you would receive from the dentist. However, you can use the product as many times as needed in order to obtain the lighting you want.

If the stains are mainly surface stains, then the gels and strips will more than likely do the trick. However, as we age and the enamel begins to wear away, our teeth begin to have crack and crevices, which can gather debris. This debris cannot be removed by regular brushing and after the build up begins, so does discoloration. If this is the problem, then you will need to use an at home tray based procedure or visit your dentist. If you do opt for an at home product, you should purchase one with a moldable tray or you may not receive a proper fit which can lead to damage to your gums and soft tissue around your teeth.
